New commercial vehicle registrations: vans +11.6%, trucks +20%, buses +15% in the first half of 2023

In the first half of 2023 , new EU van sales increased by 11.6% to 725,418 units as supply chain issues eased. Spain and Germany substantially contributed to this increase as van sales rose by 26.6% and 15.5%, respectively. Sales in France also modestly increased by 3.6%, totalling 189,948 units.
New EU truck registrations recorded a significant increase of 20%, totalling 179,508 units. Almost all EU markets saw double-digit percentage gains, including the four largest: Germany (+24.8%), France (+12.3%), Italy (+12.6%), and Poland (+10.8%).
New EU bus registrations also had a solid first half of 2023, as sales rose 15% to 14,781 units. In terms of sales volumes, France led the way with 2,982 units sold, representing a 22.3% increase. Other major markets also reported substantial growth: Italy (+62.6%), Spain (+58.7%), and Germany (+27.8%).

Motor Vehicle Production & combustion engines for vehicles in Poland in September 2023

Production of motor vehicles and engines for motor vehicles in Poland according to CSO data - SEPTEMBER 2023

According to the latest data published by the Central Statistical Office (CSO),  PRODUCTION OF MOTOR VEHICLES in Poland in SEPTEMBER recorded mixed results in all segments.
Production of passenger cars, with 27.9 thousand units, was in positive territory (+40.9% y/y). Trucks and vans up to 3.5t reached 23,748 units, posting a slight decrease (-1.7% y/y), while the production of buses, which amounted to 347 units, recorded a double-digit loss (-27.9% y/y) compared to the same month last year.
In September, the production of internal combustion engines, with a decrease of 20.8% y/y compared to the same month last year.

PASSENGER CARS
y/y change: September +40.9% y/y; January-September: +23.8% y/y
Last month, 27.9 thousand passenger cars were produced, 8.1 thousand more (+40.9% y/y) than in September 2022 and 8.4 thousand (+43.1%) more than the previous month.
During the three quarters of this year, 223.4 thousand cars came off the production lines, 40.9 thousand more than in the same period in 2022. , an increase of 22.4% y/y.

TRUCKS AND AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS FOR SEMI-TRAILERS
y/y change: September -1.7% y/y; January-September: +48.5% y/y
Production of trucks and vans totalled 23,748 units, with a slight decrease of 405 units. (-1.7% y/y) compared with the same month last year. This result is higher than in August, which is influenced by seasonality, by 3 964 units (+20%m/m).
Since the beginning of the year, 221,476 vehicles have been completed. The result is higher by 72 389 units. (+48.6% y/y) compared to 2022.

VEHICLES FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT
y/y change: September -27.9% y/y ; January-September: +4.4% y/y
Buses achieved weaker results in September than in the corresponding month of 2022. Last month, 347 buses left the factories, 134 units less (-27.9% y/y) than in the same month of 2022. Compared to August this year, this is by 72 vehicles more, but it bearing in mind that in August there are the usual production breaks in the factories.
Since the beginning of the year, 3 691 buses have left Polish plants, by 156 units. (+4.4%) more than during the 9 months of 2022.

ENGINES FOR MOTOR VEHICLES
y/y change: September -20.8% y/y ; Jan-Sep: +20.2% y/y
In September, production of engines for internal combustion vehicles reached 160,000 units, down by 42,000 units, which means a decrease of 20.8% y/y . Compared with August, this is an increase of 25,000 engines (+18.5% m/m).
Cumulatively for January-September 2023, 1, 776 thousand engines were produced, by 299 thousand units. (+20.2% y/y) more than in the first nine months of 2022, including 1, 511 thousand diesel engines and 265 thousand petrol engines.

20 days of October 2023 - new registrations PC, LCV, CV and PTW

After 20 days of October this year, registrations of all types of vehicles except heavy trucks increased, recording significant double-digit increases. Heavy trucks are still in the red due to the cumulative performance in August, which was related to the final part of production.
In the discussed period, 24,560 passenger cars were registered, 32.8% y/y more than in the same month last year. Light commercial vehicle registrations increased by 14.8% year-on-year to 2,781 units.
Sales of new heavy trucks over 3.5t - were down by 22.8% year-on-year, with 1,730 vehicles registered.
Single-track vehicles significantly improved their results: Motorbikes:1,174 units. +62.4% y/y, Scooters: 622 units. +40.1% y/y,
